DMA vs Fun

And by 'Fun' I mean sleep.

My video was done without a script and is a representation of my thought process every monday night at around 11pm. I thought it turned out well and really speaks to my thoughts. The only downside is that my camera is crappy and I was talking quietly so my roommates didn't hear me. Unfortunately they did not do the same, so there is some outside noise in parts of the video.

Pokémon Mountain State

This is an audio mashup of sounds that have been present in my apartment over the past few weeks. I do not own any part of the themes from Pokémon or Blue Mountain State, however I have had them drilled into my brain, mixed with the sounds of my roommate cooking for the last 7 days, which I think is grounds for them to go in this project.

Sounds of Surroundings

The idea of this composition is to explore the sounds that make up a person's environment. Aspects of a person's life are categorized by their location and then each location is defined by the sounds that create it.

Some people start their day with a greeting from a bottle.

Art as a Graphic Translation of a Culture

Art is a way of translating a culture, something conceptual, into a visual form. This is apparent in many different areas of our culture, from our advertisements to videos to the murals on streets. Street art in particular is a very good example, because it is frequently born directly from the culture it is representing. We use art as a visual to communicate cultural ideas in our advertisements through what images we use, how we use them, and what we use them to sell. Art can be used in politics, both as an advertising agent, like Obama's Hope posters, or to spread ideas, like propaganda posters. Political cartoons show the opinions and issues of parts of a culture, and even the daily comics in the news paper show examples of different cultures, such as parents and teenagers.
